Salem, start to finish

From elementary school through high school, Salem has been my town. I was a Lancaster Wildcat, then a Salem High graduate, and I stayed to raise my own family right here. I have watched Salem grow my whole life, and I know it the way you only can when you never left.

The classroom

I started teaching at Woodbury Middle School, then taught reading across all five Salem elementary schools and the non-public schools in town. Listening, explaining, and educating was my job long before selling was. I learned to explain the same thing four different ways until it finally landed.

Across the border

Then I crossed into Massachusetts, teaching in the Lawrence Public Schools and finishing my career in Haverhill working with beginner language learners. Twenty-plus years of crossing the MA and NH line every morning. I know that drive, that paperwork, and that decision firsthand.

My three

Benjamin, Jake, and Sydney, all raised here in Salem. Three Lancaster Wildcats and three Salem High graduates. They are by far my biggest accomplishment.

2018

Then, real estate. It turned out to be the same job teaching always was, just with bigger paperwork. Every house has a story, and the people selling or buying one are almost always in the middle of something bigger. A downsizing, a first grandchild, a commute they finally cannot do anymore.
