Litchfield runs along the east bank of the Merrimack River, with Manchester to the north, Hudson to the south, Londonderry to the east, and Merrimack and Nashua across the water. Route 3A, the Charles Bancroft Highway, is the town's spine, and Route 102 crosses the southeast corner toward Londonderry and Derry.
