Plaistow sits on the Massachusetts line, sharing its southern border with Haverhill and its eastern edge with Merrimac. Route 125 is the main north-south corridor and carries most of the shopping, Route 121A runs through the older center as Main Street, and Route 108 follows the eastern edge.
Westville is the town's other village, and the Little River flows south through Plaistow toward the Merrimack. The town hall, built in 1895, anchors the center, and Old Home Day brings a parade, fireworks, and a carnival.
Timberlane Regional High School and Timberlane Regional Middle School are in Plaistow itself, serving Plaistow, Atkinson, Danville, and Sandown through the Timberlane Regional School District.
